Rewrite $ w^{10}-9 $ as:
$$ w^{10}-9 = (w^{5})^2 - (3)^2 $$Now we can apply the difference of squares formula.
$$ I^2 - II^2 = (I - II)(I + II) $$After putting $ I = w^{5} $ and $ II = 3 $ , we have:
$$ w^{10}-9 = (w^{5})^2 - (3)^2 = ( w^{5}-3 ) ( w^{5}+3 ) $$
